HOW TO PREPARE FOR A TYPHOON:

  1. Stay Informed:

    • Monitor weather updates from reliable sources, such as your local meteorological agency or the National Weather Service.

    • Pay attention to typhoon alerts, warnings, and evacuation orders issued by local authorities.

  2. Create a Typhoon Emergency Kit:

    • Prepare an emergency kit that includes non-perishable food, water, a flashlight, batteries, a first-aid kit, necessary medications, a multi-tool, and important documents (ID, insurance papers, etc.).

    • Include clothing, blankets, and personal hygiene items.

  3. Secure Your Property:

    • Trim trees and bushes around your home to reduce the risk of falling branches.

    • Reinforce windows and doors with storm shutters or plywood.

    • Check your roof for loose or damaged shingles and repair them.

    • Secure outdoor objects (furniture, garden tools) that could become projectiles in strong winds.

  4. Prepare for Power Outages:

    • Have a backup power source such as a generator or battery-powered lanterns.

    • Charge your cell phone and other electronic devices in advance.

  5. Evacuation Plan:

    • Know your local evacuation routes and shelters.

    • Plan how you will evacuate if necessary, and make sure your family knows the plan.

    • Evacuate early if authorities recommend it to avoid traffic and potential danger.

  6. Family Communication:

    • Establish a communication plan with family members. Have a designated meeting place in case you are separated.

    • Share your whereabouts with a trusted friend or family member.

  7. Food and Water:

    • Stock up on canned or dried foods that don't require refrigeration or cooking.

    • Store enough clean drinking water for several days (at least one gallon per person per day).

  8. Medications and First Aid:

    • Ensure you have an ample supply of necessary medications.

    • Include a first-aid kit in your emergency supplies.

  9. Protect Important Documents:

    • Store important documents in waterproof containers or digitally scan and store them securely online.

  10. Stay Indoors During the Storm:

    • Once the typhoon arrives, stay indoors and away from windows.

    • Avoid going outside until authorities declare it safe.

  11. After the Typhoon:

    • Check for injuries and administer first aid as needed.

    • Be cautious of downed power lines, flooded areas, and unstable structures.

    • Contact local authorities if you need assistance or report any hazards.

We believe that by joining forces, raising awareness, and taking proactive measures, we can mitigate the devastating impact of floods on our lives, homes, and environment.

Our Mission:

Our mission is to empower individuals, communities, and governments to combat the growing threat of flooding through education, preparedness, and sustainable solutions. We are committed to:

  1. Raising Awareness: We strive to increase awareness about the risks and consequences of flooding. Through educational initiatives, we aim to foster a deeper understanding of the environmental factors contributing to floods and their far-reaching impacts on communities.

  2. Promoting Preparedness: We provide essential resources, information, and training to help individuals and communities prepare for and respond to flooding events. Preparedness is our key to resilience.

  3. Advocating for Change: We advocate for responsible land management, improved infrastructure, and policies that prioritize flood prevention and mitigation. We believe that proactive measures are essential in reducing the severity and frequency of floods.

Our Approach:

  • Community-Centric: We recognize that effective flood prevention starts at the community level. We engage with local leaders, residents, and organizations to tailor solutions that meet the unique needs of each area.

  • Collaborative: Collaboration is at the heart of our efforts. We work alongside government agencies, NGOs, experts, and volunteers to pool resources, knowledge, and expertise to tackle the challenges posed by flooding.

  • Sustainability: Our approach is grounded in sustainable practices that not only reduce flood risks but also benefit the environment. We believe that by working harmoniously with nature, we can build a resilient future.

Join Us in Our Journey:

We invite you to join and "Rise Above the Flood" and become a part of our movement. Together, we can turn the tide against flooding and create a world where communities are prepared, resilient, and safe from the devastating effects of floods.
